My Safe Florida Home: up to $10,000 toward impact windows
Florida's hurricane-hardening program gives eligible homeowners a free wind-mitigation inspection and matching grants toward impact windows and doors. We'll help you take advantage of it.
Free inspection
A no-cost wind-mitigation inspection identifies which upgrades will harden your home and lower your premium.
Up to $10,000 grant
The state typically matches $2 for every $1 you spend on approved upgrades, up to a $10,000 cap.
Lower premiums
Hardening upgrades unlock wind-mitigation insurance discounts on top of the grant savings.
Funded — but limited, so act early
The program reopened in August 2025 with $352 million for the cycle, and Florida lawmakers reappropriated $405 million+ in additional funds for 2026–2027. Even so, demand is high and grants are awarded while funding lasts — the earlier you apply, the better your odds.
2026 eligibility at a glance
- Site-built, owner-occupied single-family home
- Current homestead exemption on the property
- Insured value within program limits
- Under HB 811, the matching grant is now focused on low-to-moderate-income homeowners (the free inspection is more broadly available)
Not income-qualified for the grant?
You can still get the free wind-mitigation inspection, the Florida sales-tax exemption on impact windows & doors, $0-down financing, and your ongoing insurance discount. We'll map out every dollar you can save.
